The Duet by Apogee (first generation shown in picture above) is a beautifully designed professional audio interface for the Mac. It is a two-channel input, four output device that connects to the computer via Firewire (first generation) or USB (second generation).
It can be used for instrument recording, voice overs, and more. It has XLR or 1/4 inch inputs, and is a sturdy device that captures high quality audio.
I’ve been using a first generation Duet for years. During my time with HDNews, I took my Duet on the road with me and used it to track my news packages using a EV-635A. Now it stays in my home studio where I use it to track voice overs and narration with my EV-RE20.
If you can find a used first generation Duet, you should go for it. The second generation duet retails at $595.
